La locandina del film

Annunciato come “un epico film d’animazione steampunk di guerra retro-futuristica” War Of The Worlds: Goliath può essere definito come un sequel animato non ufficiale del romanzo di H.G. Wells “La Guerra dei Mondi”.

Diretto da Joe Pearson e prodotto da Tripod Entertainment (la stessa compagnia del film “Il Regno del Fuoco”) War Of The Worlds: Goliath si basa su una storia scritta da David Abramowitz, già consulente creativo delle serie TV Visitors e Highlander: proprio dal telefilm sugli immortali arrivano la voce narrante e quella del protagonista principale del film, entrambe interpretate dall’attore Adrian Paul.

Immaginate Band Of Brothers che incontra Guerre Stellari in una Manhattan steampunk in cui si muovono enormi macchine da battaglia a vapore, con dirigibili armati lunghi  mezzo chilometro nei cieli, crudeli alieni, decorazioni vittoriane, sangue, metallo fumante e amori nelle cabine di pilotaggio. Tutto questo è War Of The Worlds: Goliath.

La storia:

Nel 1899 la Terra è stata attaccata da crudeli invasori provenienti dal pianeta Marte. I Tripod da battaglia alieni, alti 80 metri, devastano il nostro pianeta con i loro potenti raggi di energia ma alla fine devono arrendersi, preda dei minuscoli batteri terrestri.

Quattordici anni dopo, l’uomo ha ricostruito il suo mondo distrutto, in gran parte utilizzando le tecnologie marziane. Equipaggiata con giganteschi Tripod a vapore da battaglia, la Forza Internazionale di Reazione Rapida , A.R.E.S., è la prima linea di difesa dell’umanità contro il ritorno degli avidi invasori marziani. Con sede in un massiccio complesso-fortezza nella parte sud dell’isola di Manhattan, i giovani guerrieri della A.R.E.S., si addestrano sotto la guida del Segretario di Guerra, Theodore Roosevelt , e il severo Generale Kushnirov.

Purtroppo i marziani fanno ritorno. La rivincita trova la squadra multinazionale della A.R.E.S. con i suoi Tripod “Goliath” sul fronte di una violenta offensiva interplanetaria mentre gli invasori marziani si lanciano in questa seconda invasione aliena usando una tecnologia ancora più avanzata. Nel cuore del combattimento, i membri della giovane squadra, al timone del possente Goliath, si spingeranno fino ai limiti della loro resistenza e del loro coraggio, combattendo per la sopravvivenza dell’umanità sotto l’assalto di un nemico implacabile.

Attualmente in produzione, War Of The Worlds: Goliath verrà rilasciato nel 2012.

Directed by Joe Pearson and produced by Tripod Entertainment (the same company of the movie “Reign of Fire“) War Of The Worlds: Goliath is based on a story written by David Abramowitz, former creative consultant of the TV series Visitors and Highlander: the “immortal” actor Adrian Paul give his voice to the hero and narrator of the film.

Imagine Band Of Brothers that meets Star Wars in a steampunk Manhattan with huge steam-powered battle machines, half a kilometer long armed airships in the skies, cruel aliens, Victorian decor, blood, smoking metal and loves in the cockpits. This is War Of The Worlds: Goliath.

The story:

In 1899, the Earth was attacked by ruthless invaders from the planet Mars. The Martian’s 80 ft tall, heat-ray spewing, Tripod battle machines laid waste to the planet, but the invaders ultimately fell prey to Earth’s tiny bacteria.

Fifteen years later, Man has rebuilt his shattered world, in large part by utilizing captured Martian technology. Equipped with giant, steam-powered Tripod battle machines, the international rapid reaction force, A.R.E.S., is Mankind’s first line of defense against the return of the rapacious Martian invaders. Based in a massive fortress complex at the south end of Manhattan Island, the young warriors of A.R.E.S. train under the leadership of Secretary of War, Theodore Roosevelt, and the grim General Kushnirov.

And return the Martians do. The rematch finds the multinational squad of the A.R.E.S. battle Tripod “Goliath” on the front-lines of a vicious interplanetary offensive when the Martian invaders launch their second invasion using even more advanced alien technology. In the crucible of combat, this young team helming the mighty Goliath will be tested to the limits of their endurance and courage as they fight for Mankind’s very survival under the onslaught of an implacable enemy.

Currently in production, War Of The Worlds: Goliath will be released in 2012.
